A wide-shouldered stretch of Highway 12, three serious wineries, and Sugarloaf Ridge in the hills above. Kenwood is the part of Sonoma Valley that still feels like ranchland.

The Michelin walk

A square mile, four Michelin stars, the valley's tightest food walk.

Thomas Keller built three restaurants here. The town has more Michelin stars per capita than anywhere in North America. You can walk it in fifteen minutes — and you should.

The northern end of the valley: geothermal mud baths since 1862, hot-spring pools, the Petrified Forest, and the cabernet-mountain estates of Diamond Mountain and Howell Mountain.

Cool-fog pinot. The benchmark.

The Pacific fog crawls up the Russian River every night and pulls back every morning, and the pinot it makes is the AVA every other California pinot region is measured against.
